It is also possible that your package or mail will not be recovered because it was not safe. I was at your address today and checked all surrounding sounds like if i didn't complain, they wouldn't even realize there's a missing package. They will issue a request to the local po to attempt to usps never took official possession of the package.

Same goes if you drop a package into a drop box. I've asked amazon to list the orders that went missing on my account as i'm certain i have never had to claim a lost package before. No the seller can't ask the buyer to pay if it eventually shows up. It is unclear at this point what may have happened to your package.
